Question

I am installing ceramic tile and carpeting in my basement. Is is necessary to raise up the tile with durock to have it at the same level of the carpeting to be installed ? Also can you glue durock with pl400 to keep in place ?
Thank you,
Pesh

It depends on the thickness of the carpet and the thickness of the carpet pad. It also depends on how much height difference you find acceptible. I think it would probably work either way -- with the cement board, the tile may be slightly higher than the carpet, and without the cement board, the carpet may be slightly higher than the tile.

I invite other opinions too.
