Finishing a basement concrete wall

This basement is used now with the concrete walls which are waterproof and painted. there is no problem with insulation. I want to cover the concrete for softness and looks. The concrete is somewhat uneven. What are the different coverings that are possible?

since the definition of ' uneven ' is impossible on a forum or phone, it might be best to build a wall ( 2x4's & sheetrock ) instead.

Soundproofing stairs

My basement stairs were boxed in with hideous faux wood panelling. I've finally got round to ripping it out and intend to leave the area beneath the stairs open for shelving, just covering the underside of the stairs with drywall. My only concern now is that the stairs are noisier underfoot. Is there any way to deaden or at least reduce the thudding on the stairs?Read More

Opening attic access into addition (like a dormer)

I don't know how else to explain this, so I took some pics.. I have a fully accessable attic except for one room that was added onto the house. I want to add some overhead lighting in this room and maybe blow in some insulation.. I'm thinking can I just cut away the roof decking between two trusses a bit to create access into that other room? (I realize I'll have to stay really low) I don't know how those types of additions are built. Perhaps there's too much structural bits on the other side of the original roof deck.
