Drop down wall stair

I have an access in the wall to a storage area. I would like to make a drop down stair to access the storage area. I have found drop down stairs for attics, but not walls. The height is 67.5" from the floor. The opening is 50" high and 36.5" wide. I want to keep the width at the 3' to allow for removing larger items such as plywood. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Probably won't find anything commercially available. How much space do you have in the space where you stand to access the area? Is it a hallway or room? Do you necessarily want to keep the height of the opening at 50"?

We call the space a crawl space since it is unfinished, but it ranges from 5 to 7 feet. I do want to keep the height 50" so that I can get large items in and out since we use it as a storage area. We live on a hill side so rather than having a huge retaining wall the retaining wall was split giving us 2 levels. One we finished for the basement and the other has the majority of the ducts and piping. It is totally unfinished and thus used for storage. I'm somewhat handy and was hoping I could modify something.

OK, so we can get a good idea of where it is in relation to things, could you take a couple of pictures and post them as such: http://forum.doityourself.com/electr...your-post.html so we can see what you see? Thanks.

We lovingly call this the hole. When we don't know where to put anything it goes into the hole. As you can see from the pictures tidly it is not. We recently finished the basement so we now need to finish this off. Thanks for the help on setting up pictures.Flickr: mtnavarre's Photostream
