Unhappy

According to our town code when converting an attic space to habital space the are must have 7.5 feet of ceiling height over 50% of the area. Does anyone know how to figure this out. I submitted my plans to the town and they looked them over for well over 1 hr trying to figure out if my drawn plans conformed to there code. Finally they said it was ok. I had a recent visit by the code inspector and he said that it needs to be excact, I explained that the town looked at my plans and approved them and he said that they are only going by the plans I submitted and not a site inspection.

I would hate to have everything built only to have the town say you need to move this wall back a foot.

My roof height is 111 inches and I would like the knee walls at 4 ft. Any help would b much appreciated.

Hello
48" to 111" ....if you go to the center of the room and you have 7'6" or more you are OK 1/2 of the room is over 7'6" and 1/2 of room is under 7'6" all on the same roof plain. OK
If your room was 7'6" high and you raised one side up 2' the other side down 2' you would still average 7'6"....
hope this will help....good luck
