Question

Does Kraft-faced insulation serve as a vapor barrier? I was thinking it did, but the label on the insulation doesn't say anything about containing a vapor barrier/retarder.

Yes it serves as a vapor barrier. It is not quite as good as plastic, but it works well enough for most climates. If you have severe condensation in your climate, consider adding plastic.
