I need help with this too....

I have a support beam in my basement that I was told I should replace. It is dry rotting at the end but there doesn't seem to be anything else going on. It runs the entire length of the front part of my house. There are several posts that are supporting it at the moment. My wife is concerned that the beam may just give way and the house will really need to be fixed. Any thoughts as to what I should look for on the beam to see if there has been any further deterioration? Any help on this matter would be great. Thanks

Riker, welcome to the forums! I moved your question from the well dated one you hijacked. Fresh start, you know.
It would really help us to help you if we could see what you see. Is there a way you could post pictures of your beam (not a lot of close ups) ? http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...your-post.html

Thanks Chandler. I tried to start a new thread but I could not find how. I will take pictures over the next few days and post.
