I live in ottawa, Canada. I find the Home Depot has most everything teh home builder/renovator would require, and they can usually pinpoint you in the right direction if they don't. I beleive Home Depot is nationwide, but without ever living in Edmonton I don't know where teh best local home building supplies are. Perhaps there with some luck , there might be a knowledgeable DIY on here that lives in edmonton.

Try locating a Building supply near you, sometimes Home Depot does not carry everything you need. The Home Depots out here (NY) carry Blanket insulation....but limited in your choices (R Value).

Your local Building supply should carry alot of different blanket insulation.

First I want to thank John Nelson for his speedy and helpful response to my last question. I have many more.... I have three small windows in my basement with window wells on the outside of the house. I don't want windows in my finished basement. I would like to just build my 2x4 walls over them. Can I do that? Is there anything special I should do to the inside or outside of the windows to prepare them for the cover up? Thanks!

Subflooring

Finishing the basement with a concrete slab. There appears to be no (or very little) moisture. We would like to put down either a wood parquet or a vinly tile floor. Is a subfloor recommended or should I simply glue the flooring to the concrete? I've read several posts that state it is unnecessary and a waste of money. Any thoughts?
