vapor barrior

Im finishing my basement. Block wall, steel studs, insulation, vapor barrior, then drywall. Question is,I have 2 walls that are 5-6' away from the block walls. Do I need the vapor barrior on these walls? Live in N.E. Ohio

Probably not, but what is this 5 to 6 foot space for? Vapor barriers are designed to prevent moist air penetration from the finished (i.e., warmer) space to the unfinished (i.e., colder) space. If you have a door into this space, you have air penetration anyway. Also, vapor barriers are only needed if the wall is insulated. Is this wall insulated? Finally, vapor barriers are increasingly necessary as the temperature difference between the two sides of the wall increases. Will the temperature behind the wall be a lot colder than the temperature in the finished area?

vapor barrior
Open space is a storage and access to furnace area. Walls are insulated. Area will be colder than finished room, but not as cold as an unfinished room. Maybe 10-15 F difference.
There is a 4'wide door leading into one side and another door leading into the other side.(work room)

Sounds like a borderline situation. You might as well play it safe and install the vapor barrier. It's pretty inexpensive insurance.
On the other hand, the primary purpose of the barrier is to keep the insulation from getting wet. But with 6 feet behind the wall, even if it got wet it would have enough air flow to dry out.
You can also consider how humid the air on the finished side will likely be. Perhaps you have a bathroom nearby or some other source of humidity in this area.
On the third hand, this is your only chance to install the barrier.
