What are these cable/metal posts coming from my homes crawlspace?

I have attached a couple pics the wire connected to the metal rounding post? what is this I have 2 of them next to each other and they appear to come from the crawlspace area. Its a new home just moved in last October but it was covered in snow and didn't notice these wire/posts until it melted.

so are these just grounding cables can I bury them when I do my yard?

thanks

They are grounding electrodes, also called ground rods. They should be a minimum of six feet apart and the wires or conductors going to them (NOT cables) are called grounding electrode conductors.

Yes, they should be buried.

The finished grade should be no closer then 6" of the siding, so I'd dig out a trench for the wire and pound those rods in deeper.
