Question

I have an unheated attic in 100 year old house. I want to use FOAMULAR 1 1/2 inch foam planks between the rafters and paint them with latex paint when done. Primary purpose is aesthetics, as the attic has dormers and windows for air flow. A contractor friend, tells me he does it all the time but Owens Corning doesn't recommend it. Will I get in trouble if I proceed?

If I'm following you correctly, Owens Corning is recommending that you not paint the Foamular insulation. I would go with that recommendation. I would put some sort of a cover over the rafters after the insulation is installed to acheive the aesthetics you are after.

Listen to Lefty. The alcohol in the paint will break down the foam planks.
