I am adding insulation to my attic which has a brick chimney. The house is 16 years old and has a wood stove insert. Do I need to put the insulation right against the brick, or do I need to take some other action to be safe.

I personally would wrap the chimney with reflextex insulation first or a piece of metal or leave a small gap.
