Rim joist drilling.

Hey, I'm currently finishing a basement and my customer opted for a stand up shower, I'm installing a fan vent in the bathroom, is there any problem with me drilling a 4 1/4 in hole in the rim joist so I can run the duct work between the joists and install a vent cap on the exterior wall?
Thanks.
Jay

Welcome to the forums! No, there is no problem in drilling your hole through the rim.
