Hi I am refinishing my basement and wish to relocate my furnace from under the stairs which are in the middle of my basement to a side wall or a far corner.
Can someone please tell me the pros and cons of doing such a thing? Does the distribution of the air and heat in my house become effected if the furnace is not in the middle of my basement?
Also, I have no trouble at all keeping the upstairs of the house warm in the winter even if I keep all the vents closed but air in the summer is a problem. I have a fan installed that clicks on when the air comes on but it does little to help keep the upstairs cool. Is my furnace too small for the house?
Any suggestions?

Your furnace can be moved, however you will need your furnace company to do the work. They will make some calculations as to the amount of heat moved through the new distance. They may have to make some minor adjustments.
