windows installed in basement concrete wall

I just had one new window added and two small windows enlarged. I think it looks like a very poor job. They have placed many small pieces of wood under the frame and then framed it in so you can not see it. I am a single 60 year old woman and I can't help but think they can do a poor job and I will never know. Also they put wood frame around the windows. I have no out side wood but I thought that it decays and rots, can anyone tell me it this is going to cause problems. The company is licensed, should I get an inspector to check them out?

It sounds like a common window replacement where the original steel window frame was embedded in the concrete and almost impossible to remove without major costs and mess. Unfortunately, the replacement window is smaller and has to be framed in/covered to look good.

A modern larger window can be installed after the steel frame is removed. - Just a matter of 2 different solutions or methods.

The photos will tell us a lot.
