Thumbs up Built-In Loft Bed

Hey Guys- I want to use the empty space (attic) above an interior stair to nest a built-in loft bed for my son. I'm handy and have done lots of remodeling in the past, but wanted to check in here to see if any of you have tried this and can pass along any negatives or words of advice. Thanks, Tom

Please post pictures of the area so we can better help you. http://www.doityourself.com/forum/li...rt-images.html Since you only have one post system software may hold your post for moderator approval. Be patient if that happens. It usually doesn't take long for approval.

We'll know more once we see the pics but I used to have a 3 bed rm single wide mobile home and one of the bed rms was insanely small. To make it useable for my son, I made a built in bed with dresser drawers below it.

What are the floor joists size, spacing and span in the attic? need to make sure it will support becoming part of the living space. Have you figured out how to heat/cool the space?

Adding a bedroom also adds a whole can of worms code wise.
Egress, septic, electrical, ECT.
