Advice on basement wall with exposed ceiling

We are keeping our basement ceiling exposed and are about to put up drywall. My question is, do we need anything to top off the sheets of drywall since there won't be any ceiling per se? Will the plaster do that or do we need some other sort of sealant?

Here's a link on basements with a few illustrations.

What is the drywall being nailed to?
If you built a wall, it needs a top and backing where above the foundation.
What code level of insulation is needed where you live.
