Closet expansion into an attic

Hello, we have a closet in our and are curious if it could be expanded into our attic. I've measured the closet and its 6.5' wide and have about 10' of space in the attic that I think we could extend this closet into. The closet is on the second floor of our home and is over the dinning room and formal living. I've never had any remodeling done on this scale and wondering if I need an engineer or a contractor or both to complete this task. I'm in the DFW area and wondering if anyone has had a similar project done and if so what was your experience. Here are a few pics of the attic where the possible expansion would be added.

This is the backside of the closet with and exterior wall to the right and a 5 ton AC to the left.

This is current rafters (I think there called rafters) that the closet is built on.

This pic is where we would like the back wall of the expansion to end.

Please if anyone has any advice or tips I/we are all ears.

Thanks,
Steven

Since the closet isn't load bearing, it shouldn't be a problem.
