walls around the furnace...?

Can someone tell me how much clearance room I need to have
between my furnace and a wall? We are planning to make a 4th bedroom in the basement, which would require boxing in the furnace area (with door access, and one wall vented).The basement is very small, and we need to get as close as is safe to do.

Hi, I have been looking into enclosing a furnace as well. From what I understand, you cannot have the door opening into the bedroom from the furnace. I will e mail a copy of a sheet from the code if you e mail your e address.
In general 3" to sidewall, 12" total wider than the unit, 6" from front of unit to door, 24" min. wide door and 30" min. in front of the unit (with the door Open) clear space.
Access must be sealed off from bedroom or bathroom
Remember combustion air from outside.
