Exclamation Soffit cross member support advice!

What is the best way to support these 38" soffit cross members? I have less than a 2x4 width of space between the two trunks and the cross members do not line up right below the floor joists.

Why do you feel you need to add additional support? As long as both ends are solidly supported that should be plenty of structure to support sheetrock (assuming they are 16" on center).

Too late now, but you probably should have insulated the supply duct while it was exposed....

They are 16 on center but they are 38"across. I thought the 2x4s had to be supported at 24" to prevent bowing/sagging/bellying?

I would have insulated the trunk but its pinched up against a support beam so I was unable to wrap it completely.
