Post Covers
#1
I just completed finishing my basement but have yet to cover the support posts. I don't want to box them in because the sharp corners don't go well with toddlers. I purchased a hexagon post kit at Menards but it won't fit around a 3.5" post. Home Depot has a post wrap it's at the bottom of my list. Does any one have info on where to find decorative post covers. I've looked all over the net but haven't had any luck.

Hi,
We painted the poles in our finished basement. They look nice and are the same color as the walls. Have you thought about maybe painting them the color of the room. That would camouflage them. Possibly check out a craft store and try painting them with a faux finish like sponge painting or marbleing. It's much safer than boxing them in, no corners. Just make sure that you put newspaper or a tarp down when painting. Hope this helps.

When we finished our basement, we carpeted our pole from floor to ceiling. Just use carpet adhesive between the pole and the carpeting (obviously), wrap the carpet around the pole, and wrap heavy-duty string or rope around the carpeted pole. After 48 to 72 hours, remove the rope and carpet should remain on the pole. -- Robert
