Expanding under stairs storage

Hello,

Looking to expand my storage under neath my stairs. Would like to remove the 2 vertical studs and the bottom beam, but I am afraid the studs are load bearing.

Are these studs able to be removed? Or can I move the studs all the way to the side and run another beam to top of them?

Thanks!

If that is the landing for the stairs coming down from the first floor then yes it is load bearing but only for the landing.

Appears you could double up on the cross joist and place the studs out to the sides to open up the center!

In my opinion... with the size of the cross joist..... I wouldn't think it would need to be doubled.
Just add an extra stud at each end.

I agree with Pete. No worries removing the center two.
