An egress window can have a sill height no more than 44" from the floor. The openable area must be at least 5.7 square feet. The minimum height of the openable area is 24" and the minimum width is 20". Note that barely meeting the minimum height and minimum width will not meet the minimum square feet.
If the climb out of the window well is greater than 44", you need a permanently mounted ladder.
