I want to create a small soundproof box room (8 foot by 8 foot by 8 foot) in my attic in order to be able to play and record music late at night and not annoy the neighbours.

I am happy enough about partitioning off some of the attic but what I really want to know is that best way of insultating the small room to make it sound proof. I am sure that with a combination of fibre-glass rock-wool and carpeting the walls I can achieve some sound-deadening but I would be interested if anyone has any recommendations about the best way to soundproof such a room.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Cheers

One thing that seems to work fine is is to fill your walls with foam rubber, you can get it 4" thick, then put sound proof sheetrock on the walls and ceiling.
