Add a shower to existing basement bath

We have a two piece basement bath with tile floor. Original owner had a drain installed in floor, currently exposed but sealed with wax, but never built the shower. Should I remove the tile in the shower section or just put the pan over existing tile? A professional plumber will handle making changes to the drain depending on whether or not the tile is removed.

I think your plumber should make that decision. I suspect that he might have to cut out a section of the floor to install a trap or to fit a shower flange. Your photo is just dots so it isn't much help clarifying your situation.
