Question Help with Basement sound

My house has a partially finished basement under what was an addition to an older home. That addition is only a HUGE family room and the basement is under only that area. The rest of the home has a crawl space. As I said the space is partially finished and my sons were using it as a rec space previously. There is electricity and vents for heating/cooling, and windows for emergency exits. I'm thinking, though, of finishing part of it it as a bedroom for my older son who is now a teenager. My biggest concern is sound from the basement into the living room through the vents. It's basically just free-flowing sound from that area to the upstairs. Any suggestions on how to fix this or lessen the sound?

You can re-do the ducting so the upstairs and basement vents don't align.
