can I remove this Hip Rafter Brace
sending three pictures of a brace on hip rafter (2x6 with a 2x4 nailed to it) can I remove this? Im trying to floor some attic space and need to put a walk in access door. this brace is in the way of the door and must go. I don't know if I can just remove it or need to build structure to attach it too higher up. all images I have seen of hip roofs do not include this brace on the hip rafter. it is not the perlin of a strongback. it is about half way up the hip rafter and then joined to the floor of the second story near a wall as shown in one of the pictures. I don't know if this is temp construction bracing or part of the engineering. all the hip rafters I can see in the attic have this or something much like it. thank you
