I'm going to assume your attic is not a finished area in your house, thus the insulation being all over the floor. You can go up there but you have to be careful to only step on the trusses. Stepping inbetween them can end up with you going through the ceiling and ending up hurt with a big hole to repair.
The temp is going to be high, it is hot. The insulation is there to prevent the heat from coming into the house area. There should be vent on the roof, under the gable ends or/and under the eaves of the house to allow for air flow.

You can also lay a few planks of wood across the trusses and walk on that. It's far easier to walk on that instead of trying to balance on the trusses while holding something.
