Question

I'm looking into digging out our mostly crawl space, into a full basement. The house is around 25x60. There is a partial basement of around 10x10 existing with a stair and door entrance. Some neighbors have full basements in the more modern homes.
This all started as a kitchen cabinet project, but I won't go there. Suffice to say, I'm looking to install radiant floor heating to replace the gas baseboard heating. The existing crawl space is really less than crawl and in many areas, slab only. To tight to work in.
I'm thinking a 10' dig to allow for a bobcat to get in and do the main work under power.
But how is this all accomplished and not have the house fall? Is it possible to do? What might the cost be?

Thanks,
Fritz

Digging out under house

You need to get 3 or more estimates re: digging out. Carry a clip board and note pad and ask a zillion questions. When I read your post, I imagined your house falling in. Get some pros in to give you estimates, ask questions, and make an informed decision. You may learn so much from your questions tht you can determine that your project is a safe one and that you perhaps even do it yourelf. Or, you may determine, that with special safeguards that it is possible. Or, that the project is impossible. Please keep us posted on your progress.
