Preparing concrete floors

I have concrete floors in my basement. The floors are very uneven. What could I use to help level them out, to prepare for carpet?

Levelling concrete floor

There are concrete floor levelling products available at your home center. Follow manufacturer's directions.

I want to install a wood plank floor on a cement slab. I have been told that in order to install I will need to put a sub floor of either 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch. My question is what is the best way to install the sub floor to concrete? ThanksRead More

My fathers house is a connected brownstone that had a garage which was converted to a small apartment space for my dad (I live upstairs in the main part of the house).....the total square footage is only about 450sq ft....we've just been getting quotes in queens , new york from contractors about ripping everything out and redoing the entire basement including putting in a new gas furnace, lighting, carpeting or whatever and for that little space we're getting quotes of $30,000....my question is why? it's such a small place....any ideas as to what to do? I'm almost tempted to try some of it myself....but the carpeting stinks and I have no clue what might be underneath....it's also getting cold....Read More
