Building a wet bar

A good place to start is at your local kitchen cabinet dealer. Cabinets are not for just the kitchen.

I've only seen two bar plans out there - one from an individual and one on http://www.rockler.com Neither was a wrap-around style.

Its not that hard to do your own bar. It can be as simple as plywood on a 2x4 frame. We did this for my bro-in-law. We built a 2x4 frame and put paneling on the front. The bar top was formica (easy to do). The back was open, with shelves under the top.

For my bar, I used glass block for the front and put lights behind it. I built my own cabinets - there are dozens of books available. The top was 3/4" mahogany plywood laminated to 3/4" birch plywood. The back edge was trimmed with solid mahogany. The front edge is upholstered. Its a wrap-around bar. For a shelf under the bar and the countertop along the back wall, I used formica.

You can use any cabinets you want. The top can be laminate, solid wood, hardwood plywood, tile, ????? Let your imagination run with it.

I've got a few photos of a bar style we use.

check out:
http://www.basementideas.com

We create a 2 x 4 frame, then use Oak plywood to sheath it. Next the area is divided up equally into sections being sure to cover any seams. The sections are then trimmed out with inside cove to cover the plys.
