Basement Flooring

We have just purchased a newly built house with an unfinished basement. The concrete finish is the worst scree I have ever seen, it is not level anywhere and has divits and high spots of
1-1/2".

What is my best option to level and prepare the floor for wall to wall carpet? Is ther some type of concrete finish I can use, or should I use wood of some sort with many shims?

I may have enough room to use 2X2 as firring but I question wether a 2X2 is enough support?

Leveling concrete floor carpet

Check at your local floor covering or home center for some self-leveling compound to level out your concrete floor in preparation for carpet.

Twelvepole is right. Use a floor leveler. Very common process. It comes in 5 gallon buckets. Follow the instructions. Good Luck
