Question basement walls

Any advice for finishing out a basement in an older home with basement walls made of stone and with a plaster coat on the inside? So far, even in the heaviest of rainfall, the basement is staying dry- though with a noticable mustyness during these times.
Thanks in advance!

Basement walls

You will find helpful info at www.doityourself.com/basement. Often basement moisture problems can be corrected by simply making sure gutters and downspouts are clear and draining water away from the foundation and that soil along the foundation is sloped in such away to carry away the water. If you have dampness and musty smells, get a dehumidifier going to reduce humidity and improve ventilation with a fan.

twelvepole,

When you give a URL, don't put that period at the end. It makes the link ineffective.

Thanks, John!

I didn't know that a period would do that. I promise no more periods after posting a web address. Fearless, go to www.doityourself.com/basement for information that might be of help to you.

Thanks again, John!

That does work better! Now, Fearless, you should be able to click to our basement site.
