Basement Heating: Ceiling vs. Floor
I am determing whether to duct my basement heat from the main supply either to the middle of the basement and put in the ceiling valves or down the wall and add the floor vents? Anyone have an opionion on this? Also I was considering adding electric baseboard heaters to the basement, but would like to control the temp from upstairs & downstairs? Any suggestions?

hi. In my opinion, it's not ceiling/wall location you have to worry about.
The most important places to locate your supply vents are near window penetrations. If you run your ducts as close as possible to where the windows are, and keep them in the ceiling... you should be ok. (The catch 22 here is that you have to locate a few return vents - preferably near the floor- to pull the air around and distribute it.)
So the idea is to supply the air where is has the most potential to get chilled, then draw it through your spaces by placing a return on the opposite side of the room (or in an adjacent room)..
