Sagging Ceiling

Sagging Ceiling
During our latest remodel we discovered our ceiling was sagging due to termite damage..it appears the critters are gone but we have a mess to fix including replacing a 10' span support..Question, what is the best way to raise the ceiling so that I can remove the old lumber and replace it with new???

I am not sure I have a clear picture of your problem, but the way to raise a ceiling is to jack it up. Not a hard job, but not easy either. You will need a beam probably a 5x6 or 6x6 at least as long as your sag and probably a little longer. You will need alot of blocking, two post jacks and one 20ton hydraulic jack. You will need some help probably 2 others. Put the blocking in the lowest part of the sag and put your blocking here. The 20 ton jack will sit on it. Lift up the beam and put a post jack under each end and tighten up against the ceiling. You will then jack the beam up from the center, and tighten the two post jacks also as you go.
When you get it level then you will have to leave it there until you get your new beam in and secure it. Good Luck
