I have a problem with moisture in the basement. My house is a split level with 2 unfinished rooms downstairs. The fiberglass installed by the builder now has mold in it. I am going to tear it all out and replace it. I've been told the problem is from my concrete walls "sweating". How can I prevent this? I have heard many different things. -DryLoc paint -Rigid foam (polysterene) -6mil vapor barrier (both inside and outside stud frame What I'm considering is the following: concrete ======= dry-loc paint ======= 1-2" rigid foam ======= fiber-glass (to fill in 2x4" frame) ======= 6mil vapor barrier ======= dry-wall Any suggestions?? -E

Hello, I am close to the point where I will add carpeting to my basement. My basement is a concrete slab, which I plan to clean and paint. Is it best to apply carpeting first to the floor, and add wall trim afterwards, or should I apply the trim first, and apply the carpet last. Although it makes sense to me to apply the trim last, some people have told me to apply the trim first, because it's easier for future carpet changes. (But applying the trim first sounds like a nightmare...trim can't touch floor, leveling...etc.) Advice will be appreciated. Thanks
