Question Subflooring required?

Is a framed (pressure treated 2x4's with 3/4" plywood) subfloor really necessary when finishing a basement? My house is 5 months old and I would like to begin finishing it in about 1 year. The basement would be used for entertaining and watching tv. I live in Michigan. Thank you.

No, it's not absolutely necessary.

If there are no moisture problems it would be a waste to put down sub-flooring.
