Basement Walls?

Hello,
I'm install walls in my basement. I coated the walls with drylock. What else do I need to do before I install drywall?
Thanks.

Are you saying you coated the cement with drylock, and want to apply the drywall directly to the cement wall?

Yes I coated the cement walls with drylock. I'm installing wood studs first and then drywall. Sorry for the lack of info.

OK, I understand. Sorry if I provide some information that you may already know.

Simply put, your next steps are:

1. Get a permit if your area requires one.
2. Snap a line and affix your top plate to the joists above.
3. Drop a plumb line and affix your bottom plate to the basement floor (use pressure treated wood).
Both the top and bottom plates will be inset 1" - 2" from the basement walls.
4. Insert your studs between the top and bottom plates.
5. Run your electrical wiring through your framed walls.
6. Run rough plumbing if applicable
7. Add insulation.
8. Cover the framed walls with 6 mil plastic for a vapor barrier.
9. Apply your drywall (ceiling first if you drywall the ceiling).
Don't forget to find out where you may need Type X drywall.
10. Tape and mud.

Depending on your area, inspections will probably be required after step 6 and/or 7. Last inspection is usually just before occupancy.

As I said, that's a real rough outline. There are plenty of other previous posts which will give you many more of the specifics if you need them.
