fireblocking how around pipes this is what my town wants me to do

fireblocking how around pipes this is what my town wants me to do

how am I suppose to fireblock around pipes attached to the bottom of the joist. Attached is a picture of how they want me to fire block.

The picture you have shown is the same as for my county - I just passed inspection and used Rockwool as fire block around pipes and for all openings that could not be blocked with sheetrock or wood blocking. I dont think Rockwool is carried by H-D, you may have to find a building supply company for this.

what state are u in? how much was the rockwool?

as a tinner we use sheet metal to fire stop around our pipes. I don't know if this will work in your area.

Fireblocking

Caster,

I'm in Virginia.

The Rockwool cost me about $10 for 3 large sheets (approx 2'x4').

In fact I only used 1 and bit sheets so have the rest 'spare'....
