Question Carpeting in my Basement

I am having my basement finished, with 2 bedrooms and a family room. I want to install the carpeting myself. My floor is concrete and I'm not sure what to use to install it. Please help!!! Thanks.

get a dense commercial pad

I put a dense (8-pound) commercial pad under my berber. The floor is as warm and comfortable as any in the house.

Do not put carpeting on concrete floor. moisture transfer can cause spores under carpet leads to mold etc.

at the very least put in 1/2 in subfloor. Look in phonebook for Basement Systems dealer they have product called Thermal DRy made specifically for this application.
