The basement of my moms house has always flooded after a good rain or snowfall. Mom installed a sump pump but I doubt it was installed properly or that it even works properly if at all. I remember mom and my step dad digging out around the foundation to waterproof it somehow. But, what ever they did; did not work. I need to fix this problem but don't know what types of remedies I should consider. I've no idea what is involved, what may work and what won't work. I appreciate any information: what worked for you - what didn't work, suggestions, recommendations or ? Thanks, McMe:confused:

We are looking at plans for a house and need some feedback on building with a basement foundation - is it realistic to expect to keep one of these things dry, well ventilated, etc.?? And are windows (depending on design) a better idea than no windows at all? what would be going down there, for starters, is a pool table, and maybe a music room, and some storage. Any feedback about basements would be really appreciated...cheers, Patricia.
