RadonSeal--does it really work?
I found ads for RadonSeal (www.radonseal.com), which is supposed to prevent moisture in the basement and also keep down radon levels. Has anyone tried it? It sounds too good to be true, and I'm curious to know if others have had success with it.
Thanks!

Radon sealants
Quote from the Colorado Department of Health and Environment publication:
A guide for installing affordable radon control systems in new homes.
"Field research has shown that attempting to seal all of the openings in a foundation is not only impractical but does not work as a stand-alone technique. Because of the vacuums that exist in homes, radon can enter through very small cracks and openings. These small cracks and openings are too small to locate and effectively seal.
Realize that even if you did manage to seal everything up, which would be very expensive, building settlement would cause new cracks to occur and negate all of your previous sealing work." Why We Can't Just Seal the Cracks. Radon America. Retrieved 29 May 2002. http://www.iowaradon.com/

Thanks for the response and links. I've learned if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Anyway, it still might be an OK approach to waterproofing the concrete. I'd still like to hear from anyone who has tried using it.
On the same topic, how about do-it-yourself radon fan installations. Any tips or experiences? The cost of the fans is only $200-$300, while having an EPA professional install one costs around $1000.
Has anyone out there tried these?
Thanks again! Suzan
