removal of glued down carpet

I need advice on the best way to remove glued down carpet from my basement floor. The adhesive that the previous owner used calls for mineral spirits to clean up tools, etc. It's stuck tight and I've got to remove it for health reasons. Allergic to mold!!! Please help.

Scrape it up, not sure what the tool is called, but looks kinda like a straight hoe. but stronger. will take some elbow grease, about a gallon. Any hardware store will be able to advise you.
