Backfill basement

When putting backfill around the basement what kind of material should I use? Little history here, concrete foundations, preserve wood basement, walkout basement set in hill, loamy, silty dirt.

I was told to put weeping tile around my concrete foundation and then put 3/4" rock around the basement walls? Is this stone too large or should I use 3/8" stone or sand? All three scenarios were suggested to me.

Also, as the front of my basement is not before frost (hit bedrock) I'm going to put 4" of syrofoam insulation 8' out front. It was again suggested to use 3/4" stone underneath for drainage.

And last but not least, what is the suggested stone size to fill in the basement before pouring the floor.

So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
