Basement window

You can cut the opening to make it accommodate the window and the frame.

Or just frame the opening and then special order a window made to exactly the right size. Special order windows are very common, and aren't much more expensive than a standard size. Home Depot handles custom order windows all the time. But before you order the window, make sure the opening is really square and plumb and doesn't have bowed sides. I learned this the hard way when I ordered a window that fit the height and width of the opening. However, the opening was not a rectangle but a parallelogram, so the window didn't fit.
