storing bikes

hello, i'm storing four road bikes for our local special olympics association and was wondering about the best way of going about it. you know in the basement verses the unheated garage, hanging or whatever. also should i let some of the air out before i put them away. thanks in advance.

Bicycle storage

Storage in heated area would be best. Storing in unheated area tends to result in rust. When warm humid air settles on cold metal surfaces, condensation forms. Covering with breathable cover like a blanket can help prevent this. Do not cover with plastic or other type of nonbreathable cover. Make sure bikes are clean and well-lubricated before storage. The type of rack you select will depend on how much available space you have. Most racks are wood or aluminum. There are racks for ceilings and walls as well as for floors.
