use tag-along empty?

My wife would like to get a tag-along for my youngest (4 yr old) to use when she rides. In the past, my wife dropped my daughter off at summer camp with the older kids but came back to pick her up with her bike pulling a trailer. Now that my daughter is older, she would like to pick her up with a tag-long. The problem is, can my wife ride with the empty tag-along to get to the camp (1.5 miles away)? I have pulled a tag-along but never empty.

Any thoughts or experiences?

Yes - in fact it is far easier to ride pulling one without the child than with the child (unless you're going uphill and your child can crank like a pro). ;-)
