Ha, ha.
Up until now so did I. But I just joined a bike club, and many have the e-bikes. Although I'm able to keep up with the pack, the hills do slow me down and leave me at the end of the pack. I was going to ask about opinions and what to look for since I know little about them. But I did a quick GOOGLE and decided the price is a little bit out of my range at this point in time. Even used ones are pricey.

My wife has a nephew that routinely buys old bikes, paints them and adds a gas engine and then sells them. I don't know what he has in them but knowing him I doubt it's a lot .... so that might be something to consider.

The problem with a conversion is that the frame and design is not meant for an electric bike. Too many fail points can arise structurally and mechanically. I don't believe any reputable bike store would consider a conversion.
