I have recessed skylights in the bedroom and bathroom. I am looking to install some type of shades to keep the rooms cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The sun beats down all day and heats the room up. In the winter cold air comes in through cracks and heat escapes. I am looking for a pull down type of shade to cover the whole opening of the skylight. I would have measure each opening of the skylight. Any recommendations?

Hi all, I have custom-cut Hunter Douglas 2-inch slat horizontal wooden blinds that were installed for me about ten years ago. One of them, which is 60 inches and very heavy, has had to be restrung several times. (Had I the chance to do this over, I would NOT have gotten a blind this large.) Currently, it does not stay all the way up but drops down about halfway (I can hear the latch scraping against the cord.) I'm in New York City and places tend to charge exorbitant fees for pickup and delivery (just had a place in Manhattan quote me $150 for each trip.) I'd like to remove the blind myself and just bring it somewhere but I'm not sure how hard that is. Can anyone give me any tips? Thanks in advance, - Steve
