Black Out Blinds Question

We have a bedroom with 2 sky light windows. We have blinds in these windows but they are light grey / cream color.

Once the sun comes up there may as well be no blinds at all. The room just feels like regular daylight.

Will black out blinds make much of a difference and do they have to be a dark color.
The missus insists the blinds have to be a light color.

Blackout blinds are available in different colors. We have a blackout Roman shade in our bedroom. One side is white and a patterned fabric on the other. Between the layers of material is a light blocking layer that you don't see. So, you should be able to find something pleasing to the boss.
