Oil Burner Won't Shut Off

I had a Honeywell Aquastat replaced last year (not sure what model). In June, my oil burner started coming on by itself and wouldn't shut off. I had to shut off power to it. I disconnected the thermostat and the oil burner still stayed on. Could I have a defective Aquastat?

Thanks,

Gary

The model number of the control is very important. For example, if it is an L8124A it will maintain a temperature all the time. If it is an L8048 it will not maintain temperature. There are others and if you give me the model of yours, I can tell you if it should make the burner run or not.
